Methodology:

Solubility values were measured by the freezing point method, but no details are given.

Sample Information:
  1. The magnesium salt was prepared by dissolving magnesia in 90% formic acid and heating the product at 383 K. Nothing is stated about the purity of this salt. The formic acid was prepared by treating a CP product with $\ce{B2O3}$ and then distilling in vacuo until a product melting above 281.6 K was obtained.
Measurement Errors:

Ambient temperature: No information is given.
Mass concentration (m/v) (1): No information is given.

System Components:
  1. Magnesium formate, $\ce{ Mg(CHO2)2 }$; [557-39-1] NIST WebBook
  2. Formic acid, $\ce{ CH2O2 }$; [64-18-6] NIST WebBook
Experimental Data

Because of the relative insolubility of the metal salt in formic acid only one datum could be obtained. The following summarizes the result. The solubility of magnesium formate in formic acid at 298 K is 0.2 mol %.
