Volume 71. Nitromethane with Water or Organic Solvents, p 1252

Source Publication

Conditions:

Room Temp: 257 - 349 $\pu{K}$

Compiler:

V.P. Sazonov

Methodology:

The synthetic method was used. Miscibility was determined in a glass-stoppered tube of 4 mm inside diameter. Equal volumes (0.1 mL) of (1) and (2) were measured into the tube which was then strapped to a thermometer, warmed to 5 or 10 °C above the solubility temperature, mixed well by shaking, and then allowed to cool slowly, still shaking, in a bath of white oil (above 30 °C), water (below 30 °C), or nonfreezing mixture (below 0 °C).

Sample Information:
  1. Not specified.
  2. Some aromatic hydrocarbons(*) obtained from Mr. J. B. Conant, Harvard University; others were purest commercial samples.
Measurement Errors:

Ambient temperature: Not reported.
Mass concentration (m/v) (1): Not reported.
Pressure: Not reported.
