Volume 77. Nitroalkanes with Water or Organic Solvents: Binary and Multicomponent Systems, p None

Original Measurements

Francis, A. W.; J. Phys. Chem. 60, 20-7 (1956).

Variables:

Room Temp: 273 - 292 $\pu{K}$

Prepared by:

N.I. Lisov, V.P. Sazonov

Method/Apparatus/Procedure:

The observations were made after vigorously shaking on glass stoppered graduated tubes of about 15 mL capacity immersed in water baths in large Dewar flasks. The water was agitated with a rapid stream of air bubbles. The temperature was adjusted by adding small amounts of cooler or warmer water occasionally as required.

Source and Purity of Materials:
  1. Eastman Kodak Co., distilled with 30 cm column with reflux; BP = 114-115°C; $n_{D}^{20}$ = 1.3920, $\rho^{20} = \pu{1046.9 g L-1}$.
  2. Source not specified; purified by crystallization; MP = 6.8°C; $n_{D}^{20}$ = 1.4372, $\rho^{20} = \pu{831.8 g L-1}$.
Estimated Errors:

Ambient temperature: Not specified.
Mass concentration (m/v) (1): Not specified.
