Variables:

Room Temp: 274 and 355 $\pu{K}$

Prepared by:

V.P. Sazonov

Method/Apparatus/Procedure:

Two methods were used. The solubility temperatures of the liquid phases were determined by the synthetic method (Alekseev [1]) The analytical method described in Nikurashina and Mertslin [2] was used for determining equilibrium liquid phase compositions. Samples from coexisting liquid phases at equilibrium were analyzed by refractometry. No experimental details given.

Source and Purity of Materials:
  1. Source not specified; purified; BP = 101.3°C; $n_{D}^{20}$ = 1.3820, $d_{4}^{20}$ = 1.1320.
  2. Source not specified; purified; BP = 38°C; $n_{D}^{20}$ = 1.4100, $d_{4}^{20}$ = 0.8144.
  3. Twice distilled; $n_{D}^{20}$ = 1.3333.
Estimated Errors:

Ambient temperature: Not specified.

Experimental Data

The solubility temperatures of the liquid phases were determined in ternary mixtures with a constant mass relationship of (1) and (2) as 10.0:90.0, 19.9:80.1, 29.9:70.1, 39.9:60.1, 50.0:50.0, 60.0:40.0, 69.9:30.1, 78.7:21.3 and 89.2:10.8, respectively.
The compositions of coexistent two and three liquid phases at 11°C and 17°C are also reported in graphical form.
