Variables:

Ambient temperature: 283 - 303 K

Prepared by:

A.L. Horvath

Method/Apparatus/Procedure:

250 cm3 bottles were filled with distilled deionized water and sealed. A measured volume of trichloromethane was injected into the bottles through each bottle septum using a microliter syringe. Trichloromethane was in excess of the anticipated solubility limit. The bottles were shaken for 1 hour with a wrist-action shaker and allowed to equilibrate for about 3 weeks. Samples were then injected into a gas chromatograph equipped with a Carbopack column and a FID detector. The GC response was compared with the calibration plot.

Source and Purity of Materials:
  1. Probable a commercial reagent at least 99% purity. Used as received.
  2. distilled and deionized.
Estimated Errors:

Ambient temperature: ±0.5 K (compiled).
Mass concentration (m/v) (1): Not specified.
