Volume 38. Hydrocarbons in Water and Seawater, Part II, p None

Source Publication

Sutton, C.; Calder, J. A.; J. Chem. Eng. Data 1975, 20, 320-2.

Conditions:

Room Temp: 25 °C

Compilers:

Z. Maczynska, A. Maczynski

Methodology:

The concentration of (1) in (2) was determined by gas chromatography.

Sample Information:
  1. Aldrich Chemical Co. or Matheson Coleman and Bell 99+%.
  2. Distilled.
Measurement Errors:

Ambient temperature: ±0.1°C
Mass concentration (m/v) (1): 0.8 (the standard deviation of the mean for six replicates)

System Components:
  1. iso-Propylbenzene, $\ce{ C9H12 }$; [98-82-8] NIST WebBook
  2. Water, $\ce{ H2O }$; [7732-18-5] NIST WebBook
Experimental Data

The solubility of cumene in water at 25°C was reported to be 65.3 mg(1)/kg(2). The corresponding mass percent and the mole fraction, x1, calculated by the compilers are 0.00653 g(1)/100 g sln and 9.78 × 10-6.
