Volume 77. Nitroalkanes with Water or Organic Solvents: Binary and Multicomponent Systems, p None

Original Measurements

Majgler-Baranowska, H.; Pyzuk, W.; Jeute, W.; Ziolo, J.; J. Chem. Eng. Data 26, 51-3 (1981).

Variables:

Room Temp: 288 - 294 $\pu{K}$

Prepared by:

N.V. Sazonov, V.P. Sazonov

Method/Apparatus/Procedure:

The synthetic method was used. Miscibility temperature was determined by observing turbidity changes during heating and cooling of vigorously shaken solutions. No experimental details given.

Source and Purity of Materials:
  1. Fluka; initial purity 95 mass%; purified agitation with sulfuric acid, washing, dried and distilled under reduced pressure over $\ce{CaSO4}$.
  2. Source not specified; purity 98 mass%; dried, vacuum fractionated and redistilled over $\ce{CaH2}$.
Estimated Errors:

Ambient temperature: ±0.05 K.

Experimental Data

The mutual solubility of nitroethane (1) and 1-decanol (2) in volume fractions is presented over the temperature range in graphical form.
Data extracted from the published graphs by the compilers. For conversions of volume concentration utilized values of density of nitroethane p(20°C) = 1052.8 g·L-1, Weissberger et al.1 and 1-decanol p(20°C) = 829.2 g·L-1, Marsdne and Mann, 2 at 293.2 K (20.0°C).
