Volume 77. Nitroalkanes with Water or Organic Solvents: Binary and Multicomponent Systems, p None

Original Measurements

Ralston, A. W.; Hoerr, C. W.; Pool, W. O.; J. Org. Chem. 8, 473-88 (1943).

Variables:

Room Temp: 283 - 365 $\pu{K}$

Prepared by:

N.I. Lisov, N.V. Sazonov, V.P. Sazonov

Method/Apparatus/Procedure:

The synthetic method was used. The solubilities of [2] in [1] were determined in sealed tubes by the method and apparatus described in Ralston, et al. [1], and Hoerr and Ralston [2].

Source and Purity of Materials:
  1. Source not specified; best grade reagent; dried and twice distilled.
  2. Prepared by passing of ammonia through the octanoic acid at 190-210°C for 10 to 14 hrs; purified by recrystallization; FP = 98.5°C.
Estimated Errors:

Ambient temperature: control to ±0.2 K
