Volume 73. Metal and Ammonium Formate Systems, p None

Original Measurements

Petrova, E. V.; Itkina, L. S.; Zh. Neorg. Khim. 25, 1668-71 (1980).

Variables:

Room Temp: Composition at 25 °C

Prepared by:

St. Trendafilova, Chr. Balarew

Method/Apparatus/Procedure:

The isothermal method was used. Equilibrium was reached in eight and a half days. The lithium content of both phases was determined by flame photometry. The scandium content was determined by complexometric titration. The composition of the solid phase was determined by Schreinemakers' method.

Source and Purity of Materials:
  1. The scandium formate was obtained by heating a mixture of reagent grade $\ce{Sc2O3}$ and formic acid. Lithium formate was prepared by reaction of 85% p.a. grade formic acid with PA grade $\ce{LiOH}$. The crystals were washed with ethanol and dried over sulfuric acid. They were dehydrated by heating in a furnace at 100-110°C in a nitrogen atmosphere.
Estimated Errors:

Ambient temperature: No information is given.
Mass concentration (m/v) (1): No information is given.
