Compilation - Erbium formate with Water (IUPAC SDS Volume 73)
SDS Volume (4793)
Volume 73. Metal and Ammonium Formate Systems, p None
Original Measurements
Petrova, E. V.; Portnova, S. M.; Zh. Neorg. Khim. 32, 1242-7 (1987).
Variables:
Room Temp: 25 and 50 °C
Prepared by:
St. Trendafilova, Chr. Balarew
Method/Apparatus/Procedure:
The isothermal method was used. Two weeks were allowed for equilibration. The erbium content was determined complexometrically. The composition of the solid phases was determined by Schreinemakers' method.
Source and Purity of Materials:
- The formate is prepared by the reaction of 85% formic acid with p.a. grade erbium oxide.
Components:
- Erbium formate, $\ce{ Er(CHO2)3 }$; [15331-72-3] NIST WebBook
- Water, $\ce{ H2O }$; [7732-18-5] NIST WebBook
Experimental Data
Table 1. Solubility values in the Er(CHO2)3-H2O.
| $T$ (°C) | 100w1 | m1 (mol/kg) | Phase (s) () |
|---|---|---|---|
| 25 | 25.83 | 1.15 | A |
| 50 | 33.39 | 1.65 | A |
(a) These values were calculated by the compilers.
(b) The solid phase is: A = Er(CHO2)3ยท2H2O
