Volume 73. Metal and Ammonium Formate Systems, p None

Original Measurements

Gauthier, J.; Thèses faculté des sciences de l'université de Paris, 65-71 (1958).

Variables:

Room Temp: -0.595 - 64 °C

Prepared by:

Chr. Balarew

Method/Apparatus/Procedure:

It appears that the isothermal method was used. Above 0°C a Dewar flask with a Robertean thermometer graduated in 0.01 °C was used. Below 0 °C a mixture of water and salt was used to cool a jacket containing acetone or methanol. The copper content was determined electrolytically.

Source and Purity of Materials:
  1. Distilled water was used.
Estimated Errors:

Mass concentration (m/v) (1): ±0.07 mass% (from the eutectic point).

Components:
  1. Copper formate, $\ce{ Cu(CHO2)2 }$; [544-19-4] NIST WebBook
  2. Water, $\ce{ H2O }$; [7732-18-5] NIST WebBook

(a) These values were calculated by the compiler.

(b) The solid phases are: A = Cu(CHO2)2·4H2O, B = Cu(CHO2)2·2H2O.
