Conditions:

Compiler:

G. D'Andrea

Methodology:

The only information given is that a thermograph was used with a photorecorder and that the salt(s) were sealed under vacuum in Pyrex ampules.

Sample Information:
  1. Analytical grade $\ce{NaHCO3}$ and chemically pure $\ce{NaNO3}$ were heated 10-15 hrs at temperatures 50-60°C below their fusion temperatures.
Measurement Errors:

Ambient temperature: The compiler estimates the accuracy of the temperature measurements to be probably ±2 K.
Mass concentration (m/v) (1): No information is given.

System Components:
  1. Sodium formate, $\ce{ NaCHO2 }$; [141-53-7] NIST WebBook
  2. Sodium nitrate, $\ce{ NaNO3 }$; [7631-99-4] NIST WebBook
Experimental Data

Note 1: There is one eutectic: at 176°C and 100 x2 = 44.
Note 2: The data tabulated above were drawn by the compiler from Fig. 1 of the original paper.
