Volume 73. Metal and Ammonium Formate Systems, p None

Original Measurements

Dunn, L. J.; Philip, J. C.; J. Chem. Soc. 658 (1934).

Variables:

Room Temp: Composition at 25 °C

Prepared by:

T.A. Ageyeva

Method/Apparatus/Procedure:

The isothermal method was used. The methods of analysis are not described. The composition of the solid phases was determined by the Schreinemakers method.

Source and Purity of Materials:
  1. The salt was prepared from pure formic acid and magnesium carbonate or hydroxide; purity is not specified. Commercial formic acid was used.
Estimated Errors:

Ambient temperature: The temperature was controlled to within ±0.01°C. Nothing is said about the solubility values.

Components:
  1. Magnesium formate, $\ce{ Mg(CHO2)2 }$; [557-39-1] NIST WebBook
  2. Formic acid, $\ce{ CH2O2 }$; [64-18-6] NIST WebBook
  3. Water, $\ce{ H2O }$; [7732-18-5] NIST WebBook
