Volume 73. Metal and Ammonium Formate Systems, p None

Original Measurements

Kendall, J.; Adler, H.; J. Am. Chem. Soc. 43, 1470 (1921).

Variables:

Room Temp: -4.9 - 31.8 °C

Prepared by:

T.A. Ageyeva

Method/Apparatus/Procedure:

The only information given is that the solubility values were measured by the freezing point method.

Source and Purity of Materials:
  1. The barium salt was prepared by dissolving a pure sample of the carbonate in 90% formic acid. The salt obtained was recrystallized three times from water and dried to constant weight at 413 K; purity is not specified. The formic acid was prepared by treating a CP product with $\ce{B2O3}$. It was then distilled in vacuo until a product melting above $\pu{281.6 K}$ was obtained.
Estimated Errors:

Ambient temperature: Nothing is specified.

Components:
  1. Barium formate, $\ce{ Ba(CHO2)2 }$; [541-43-5] NIST WebBook
  2. Formic acid, $\ce{ CH2O2 }$; [64-18-6] NIST WebBook
