Variables:

Room Temp: 25 °C

Prepared by:

A. Maczynski

Method/Apparatus/Procedure:

The solubility of (1) in (2) was determined by glc. A Czech-made Chrom-2 chromatograph was used, equipped with a 5% Apiezon L/Chromosorb G column operated at 90-140 °C.

Source and Purity of Materials:
  1. Described in [1].
  2. Distilled.
Estimated Errors:

Ambient temperature: ±1 K

Components:
  1. Toluene, $\ce{ C7H8 }$; [108-88-3] NIST WebBook
  2. Water, $\ce{ H2O }$; [7732-18-5] NIST WebBook
Experimental Data

The solubility of toluene in water at 25°C was reported to be 0.220 mg(1) cm-3 sln.
The corresponding mass percent and mole fraction, x1, calculated by the compiler are 0.022 g(1)/100 g sln and 4.3 × 10-5. The compiler's calculations assume a solution density of 1.00 g/mL.
