Volume 73. Metal and Ammonium Formate Systems, p None

Original Measurements

Lumsden, J. C.; J. Chem. Soc. 81, 355 (1902).

Variables:

Room Temp: 0 - 100 °C

Prepared by:

St. Trendafilova, Chr. Balarew

Method/Apparatus/Procedure:

The isothermal method was used. The solid and liquid phases were separated from each other by filtration. Each of the phases was then analyzed but no description of the analytical methods is given.

Source and Purity of Materials:
  1. The calcium salt was prepared by the action of Kahlbaum pure acid on precipitated $\ce{CaCO3}$. Water was removed from the reaction mixture by evaporation and the solid was then recrystallized from water.
Estimated Errors:

Mass concentration (m/v) (1): No information is given.

Components:
  1. Calcium formate, $\ce{ Ca(CHO2)2 }$; [544-17-2] NIST WebBook
  2. Water, $\ce{ H2O }$; [7732-18-5] NIST WebBook

(a) The solid phase is: A = Ca(CHO2)2.

(b) The molality values were calculated by the compilers.
