Volume 73. Metal and Ammonium Formate Systems, p None

Original Measurements

Fock, A.; Z. Kristallogr. u Mineralogie 28, 337-413 (1897).

Variables:

Room Temp: Composition at 25 °C

Prepared by:

St. Trendafilova, Chr. Balarew

Method/Apparatus/Procedure:

A saturated solution of one component was prepared at 25 °C. Then the second component was added while the mixture was heated. After cooling to 25 °C the crystals were removed, crushed and again added to the mixture, which was then stirred for 4 h. Samples were then removed for analysis. The lead was determined gravimetrically as PbS.

Source and Purity of Materials:
  1. Commercially available substances were used.
Estimated Errors:

Ambient temperature: Not given.

Components:
  1. Barium formate, $\ce{ Ba(CHO2)2 }$; [541-43-5] NIST WebBook
  2. Lead formate, $\ce{ Pb(CHO2)2 }$; [811-54-1] NIST WebBook
  3. Water, $\ce{ H2O }$; [7732-18-5] NIST WebBook

(a) These values, and the molalities, were calculated by the compilers.

(b) The solid phases are: A = Ba(CHO2)2; B = (Pb,Ba)(CHO2)2; C = Pb(CHO2)2.
