Volume 72. Nitromethane with Water or Organic Solvents: Ternary and Quaternary Systems, p None

Original Measurements

Maslovskaya, N. V.; Dissertation, Kalinin University, 1974.

Variables:

Room Temp: 293 and 313 $\pu{K}$

Prepared by:

V.P. Sazonov

Method/Apparatus/Procedure:

Two methods were used. The solubility curve was determined by the titration method. The analytical method was used, samples being withdrawn from coexisting liquid phases at equilibrium for analysis by refractometry.

Source and Purity of Materials:
  1. Source not specified, pure grade reagent; distilled;
    BP = 101.0°C; $n_{D}^{20}$ = 1.3818, $d_{4}^{20}$ = 1.1385.
  2. Source not specified, pure grade reagent; distilled; BP = 117.1°C; $n_{D}^{20}$ = 1.3723, $d_{4}^{20}$ = 1.0530.
  3. doubly distilled.
Estimated Errors:

Ambient temperature: Not reported.

Components:
  1. Nitromethane, $\ce{ CH3NO2 }$; [75-52-5] NIST WebBook
  2. Acetic acid, $\ce{ C2H4O2 }$; [64-19-7] NIST WebBook
  3. Water, $\ce{ H2O }$; [7732-18-5] NIST WebBook
Experimental Data

Estimated plait point: w1 = 0.509, w2 = 0.180 (x1 = 0.292,  x2 = 0.105,  compiler).
