Method/Apparatus/Procedure:

The solubility curve was determined by the method of Rifai and Durandet [1]. The analytical method was used to determine coexisting liquid phase compositions. A known weight of a two-phase mixture was equilibrated in a thermostat, separated, liquid phases weighed, and the refractive index of coexisting phases measured. Concentrations of [1] and (3) in both phases were measured using calibrated plots, which allowed determination of coexisting phase compositions.
