Original Measurements

Clever, H. L.; Pirkle Jr., Q. R.; Allen Jr., B. J.; Derrick, M. E.; J. Chem. Eng. Data 17, 31-4 (1972).

Variables:

Room Temp: 244 - 279 $\pu{K}$

Prepared by:

V.P. Sazonov

Method/Apparatus/Procedure:

Cooling curves were determined using a freezing point apparatus (Precision Scientific Co.), equipped with a Leeds & Northrup Mueller bridge, and a $\ce{Pt}$ resistance thermometer. Minimum sample size was 50 mL. A solution of (1) and (2) was prepared and its cooling curve recorded, then a known amount of (1) was added, and a second cooling curve taken.

Source and Purity of Materials:
  1. Diaprep, Inc; 99 mole% minimum isotopic purity.
  2. Fisher ACS certified.
Estimated Errors:

Ambient temperature: Not reported.
Mass concentration (m/v) (1): Not reported.
Pressure: Not reported.

Components:
  1. Nitromethane-d3, $\ce{ CD3NO2 }$; [13031-32-8] NIST WebBook
  2. Benzene, $\ce{ C6H6 }$; [71-43-2] NIST WebBook
Experimental Data

No region of liquid-liquid immiscibility was observed. A full solid-liquid phase diagram is presented.
A eutectic was reported at -37.2°C.
