Volume 70. Solubility of Gases in Glassy Polymers, p None

Original Measurements

O'Brien, K. C.; Koros, W. J.; Husk, G. R.; J. Membr. Sci. 35, 217 (1988).

Variables:

Room Temp: 308 $\pu{K}$
Pressure: 0.1 - 1.4 $\pu{MPa}$

Prepared by:

Yu.P. Yampol'skii

Method/Apparatus/Procedure:

Sorption measurements were carried out using a single transducer apparatus described in [1].

Source and Purity of Materials:
  1. PMDA-ODA: polymerization performed in dimethylacetamide at $\pu{288-293 K}$ to form polyamic acid precursor according to standard procedure. The polyamic acid solution was wet cast on a glass substrate heated for one hour at $\pu{353 K}$ under $\ce{Ar}$ to remove the solvent and then imidized by a two-step cure under vacuum ($\pu{24 hrs}$) at $\pu{483 K}$ and four hours at $\pu{553 K}$). The polymer studied did not reveal a glass transaction temperature at temperatures up to 750 K. $\rho = \pu{1.402 g mL-1}$.
Estimated Errors:

Mass concentration (m/v) (1): Relative precision of solubilities: 5%.
