Volume 70. Solubility of Gases in Glassy Polymers, p None

Original Measurements

Takishima, S.; Nakamura, K.; Sasaki, M.; Masuoka, H.; Sekiyu Gakkaishi 33, 332-336 (1990).

Variables:

Room Temp: 313.2 and 323.2 $\pu{K}$
Pressure: 0.898 - 8.755 $\pu{MPa}$

Prepared by:

Yu.P. Yampol'skii

Method/Apparatus/Procedure:

Measurements of the solubility were made using a pressure decay method. The apparatus was similar to one designed by Koros [1]. Pressure was measured by a semiconductor sensor PX-1A (Tsukasu Sokken). The correction for compressibility of gas phase was introduced.

Source and Purity of Materials:
  1. PVA (Aldrich Chemical Co) had "viscosity" average molecular weight 158,000 and $T{\rm{g}}$ = 303 K. The purity of carbon dioxide (Chugoku Teisan) was 99.9%.
