Components:

(1) Methane, CH4; [74-82-8] NIST WebBook
(2) Tetramethylpolycarbonate, None; [38797-88-5] NIST WebBook

Original Measurements

Variables:

Ambient temperature: 308 K
Pressure: 0 - 5 MPa

Prepared by:

Yu.P. Yampol'skii

Method/Apparatus/Procedure:

Two methods of conditioning were studied. Conventionally conditioned isotherms were obtained with the samples which had been previously in contact with CO2 gas under pressure of 6.21 MPa for 2-3 h with consequent pumping for 2 days. Exchange conditioning runs a gravimetric technique was used. In two other types of experiments a pressure decay method was applied.1

Source and Purity of Materials:
  1. CH4 purity 99.99%. TMPC: Dow Chemical Co., density 1.08 g/cm3, glass transition temperature 476 K.
Estimated Errors:

Ambient temperature: No information given.
