Method/Apparatus/Procedure:

The points on the binodal curve were determined by the titration method, as described in [1]. The formation of a cloudy mixture was observed visually on shaking after addition of a known mass of the third component; syringes were precisely weighed. Tie line compositions were determined by the refractive index method [2], and a complementary method using the Karl Fischer titration [3]. Measurements were made at pressure of 94.7 kPa.

  1. Merck, AR grade; refluxed with $\ce{Mg}$ and $\ce{I2}$, distilled; purity $\pu{\gt 99.9 mole%}$ by GLC.
  2. BDH; Gold label grade; used as received; purity $\pu{\gt 99.9 mole%}$ by GLC.
