Conditions:

Room Temp: 288 - 299 $\pu{K}$

Compiler:

Methodology:

The determination of the solubility of water in 1,1,2,3,3,3-hexachloro-1-propene was based on the infrared spectroscopic method. A UR-20 spectrophotometer was used with 2-cm cuvettes and the windows made of $\ce{KBr}$. The spectra were recorded at $\pu{3600 - 810 cm-1}$, and the absorbance at $\pu{3,702 cm-1}$ was found by the baseline method. Standard mixtures of tetrachloromethane and water were used for the calibration graphs. The results obtained were compared with measurements made by the methods of cloud point [1] and Karl Fischer titration.

Sample Information:
  1. Distilled.
  2. Synthesized by the authors, distilled, washed with $\ce{HClSO3}$ and water and again distilled. Finally dried with $\ce{CaCl2}$ and $\ce{P2O5}$.
Measurement Errors:

Ambient temperature: ±0.5 K.
Mass concentration (m/v) (1): Not specified.
