Original Measurements

Wright, W. H.; Schaffer, J. M.; Am. J. Hygiene 16, 325 (1932).

Variables:

Room Temp: 298 $\pu{K}$

Prepared by:

A.L. Horvath

Method/Apparatus/Procedure:

The solubility was determined by mixing definite quantities of 2,3-dichloro-2-methylbutane with a large volume of water and then measuring the volume of the undissolved portion of 2,3-dichloro-2-methyl-butane.

Source and Purity of Materials:
  1. Commercial grade, further purified by washing with $\ce{NaHCO3}$ solution and redistilled.
  2. distilled.
Estimated Errors:

Ambient temperature: ±0.5 K (compiler).
Mass concentration (m/v) (1): Not specified.

Components:
  1. 2,3-Dichloro-2-methylbutane, $\ce{ C5H10Cl2 }$; [507-45-9] NIST WebBook
  2. Water, $\ce{ H2O }$; [7732-18-5] NIST WebBook
