The solubility was determined by mixing definite quantities of 2,3-dichloro-2-methylbutane with a large volume of water and then measuring the volume of the undissolved portion of 2,3-dichloro-2-methyl-butane.

- Commercial grade, further purified by washing with $\ce{NaHCO3}$ solution and redistilled.
