Volume 67. Halogenated Ethanes and Ethenes with Water, p 451

Source Publication

Carlisle, P. J.; Levine, A. A.; Ind. Eng. Chem. 24, 1164 (1932).

Conditions:

Room Temp: Graphical form only

Compiler:

A.L. Horvath

Methodology:

The water content was found by determining the temperature where tichloroethene was saturated with water, that is, determining the cloud point. The relationship between the cloud point and the percentage moisture in the saturated sample provided the solubility values as a function of temperature.

Sample Information:
  1. Distilled.
  2. Factory grade, first dried and followed by fractional distillation.
Measurement Errors:

Ambient temperature: ±0.2 K.
Mass concentration (m/v) (1): Not specified.

System Components:
  1. Trichloroethylene, $\ce{ C2HCl3 }$; [79-01-6] NIST WebBook
  2. Water, $\ce{ H2O }$; [7732-18-5] NIST WebBook
Experimental Data

The results of the solubility determination were presented in graphical form only.
