Variables:

Ambient temperature: 283 - 303 K

Prepared by:

A.L. Horvath

Method/Apparatus/Procedure:

250 cm3 bottles were filled with distilled and deionized water and sealed. Measured volumes of 1,1,2-trichloro-1,2,2-trifluoroethane were injected into the bottles through each bottle septum using a microliter syringe. The solute was in excess of the anticipated solubility limit. The bottles were shaken for 1 hour with a wrist-action shaker and allowed to equilibrate for about three weeks. Samples were then injected into a gas chromatograph equipped with a Carbopack column and a FIDdetector. The gas chromatography (GC) responses were compared with calibration response plots to establish concentrations.

Source and Purity of Materials:
  1. Probably a commercial reagent at least 99% purity; used as received.
  2. Distilled and deionized.
Estimated Errors:

Ambient temperature: ±0.5 K (compiler).
Mass concentration (m/v) (1): Not specified.

Experimental Values:
T (°C) w1 100w1 x1
10.0 3.8 x 10-5 3.8 x 10-3 3.65 x 10-6
20.0 2.7 x 10-5 2.7 x 10-3 2.60 x 10-6
30.0 1.4 x 10-5 1.4 x 10-3 1.35 x 10-6
