Variables:

Ambient temperature: 283 - 303 K

Prepared by:

A.L. Horvath

Method/Apparatus/Procedure:

250 cm3 bottles were filled with distilled and deionized water and sealed. A measured volume of hexachloroethane was injected into the bottles through each septum using a microliter syringe. Hexachloroethane was in excess of the anticipated solubility limit. The bottles were shaken for one hour with a wrist-action shaker and allowed to equilibrate for about three weeks. Samples were then injected into a gas chromatograph equipped with a Carbopack column and a FID detector. The GC response was compared with calibration plots.

Source and Purity of Materials:
  1. Probably a commercial reagent, at least 99% pure, used as received.
  2. Distilled and deionizes.
Estimated Errors:

Ambient temperature: ±0.5 K (compiler).
Mass concentration (m/v) (1): Not specified.

Experimental Values:
T (°C) MR1 (g1/g2) 100w1 x1
