Volume 67. Halogenated Ethanes and Ethenes with Water, p 603

Original Measurements

Newsham, D. M. T.; Measurement and Correlation of Thermodynamic Data for Chlorinated Hydrocarbons, UMIST, Manchester (January. 1981).

Variables:

Room Temp: 273 - 323 $\pu{K}$

Prepared by:

A.L. Horvath

Method/Apparatus/Procedure:

Samples were equilibrated for at least ten days in water thermostat. Water analysis was done using an automatic Karl Fischer titration apparatus. The accuracy of the instrument was specified to be 1 %. All samples were handled with a hypodermic syringe which was weighted before and after each addition. The instrument was calibrated using a synthetic mixture of 1 % water in methanol.

Source and Purity of Materials:
  1. Source not given, contained less than 0.1% dissolved material.
  2. Distilled (compiler).
Estimated Errors:

Ambient temperature: ±0.1 K.
Mass concentration (m/v) (1): ±1%.

Components:
  1. Water, $\ce{ H2O }$; [7732-18-5] NIST WebBook
  2. 1,2-Dichloroethane, $\ce{ C2H4Cl2 }$; [107-06-2] NIST WebBook
