Original Measurements

Banerjee, S.; Yalkowsky, S. H.; Valvani, S. C.; Environ. Sci. Technol. 1980, 14, 1227-9.

Variables:

Room Temp: 298 $\pu{K}$

Prepared by:

A.L. Horvath

Method/Apparatus/Procedure:

An excess of 1,2-dichloroethane was added to a stainless steel tube containing water and then the tube was sealed. The equilibration occurred during shaking for a week at 25 °C. After centrifugation, the concentration was obtained from a measurement of radioactivity through liquid scintillation counting. The solubility procedure was carried out at least twice for each sample and the analysis was done in duplicate.

Source and Purity of Materials:
  1. New England Nuclear, used as received.
  2. Distilled.
Estimated Errors:

Ambient temperature: ±0.3 K.
Mass concentration (m/v) (1): ±3.5% std. dev.
