Volume 67. Halogenated Ethanes and Ethenes with Water, p 496

Original Measurements

Gossett, J. M.; Environ. Sci. Technol. 1987, 21, 202-8.

Variables:

Room Temp: 283 - 308 $\pu{K}$

Prepared by:

A.L. Horvath

Method/Apparatus/Procedure:

A modification of the EPICS procedure was used for measuring Henry's law constants. A precise quantity of trans-1,2-dichloroethene was injected into srum bottles which contained distilled water. The bottles were incubated for 18-24 hours at four desired temperatures in a reciprocating shaker bath. The headspace concentrations of the EPICS bottles were measured by a gas chromatograph which was equipped with a flame ionization detector. The mean of the coefficient of variation values was about 4.3%.

Source and Purity of Materials:
  1. Commercial grade, source not given.
  2. Distilled (compiler).
Estimated Errors:

Ambient temperature: ±0.1 K (compiler).
Mass concentration (m/v) (1): (2) Distilled
