Original Measurements

Orlandini, M.; Fermeglia, M.; Kikic, I.; Alessi, P.; Chem. Eng. J. 1983, 26, 245-50.

Variables:

Room Temp: 293 $\pu{K}$

Prepared by:

A.L. Horvath

Method/Apparatus/Procedure:

A mixture of trichloroethene and water was agitated overnight and left at equilibrium for 24 hours. Three samples were withdrawn for each phase with a syringe and analyzed by gas chromatography. The gas chromatograph (C. Erba ATc/t) was equipped with a Shimadzu Chromatopac E-1A integrator. A stainless column packed with 100-120 mesh Chromosorb W DMCD coated with heptadecane nitrile was used for analysis.

Source and Purity of Materials:
  1. Fluka reagent, purified by distillation before use.
  2. Distilled (compiler).
Estimated Errors:

Ambient temperature: +/-0.1 K
Mass concentration (m/v) (1): Not specified.

Components:
  1. Trichloroethylene, $\ce{ C2HCl3 }$; [79-01-6] NIST WebBook
  2. Water, $\ce{ H2O }$; [7732-18-5] NIST WebBook
