Volume 62. Carbon Dioxide in Water and Aqueous Electrolyte Solutions, p None

Source Publication

Stewart, P. B.; Munjal, P.; J. Chem. Eng. Data 1970, 15, 67-71.

Conditions:

Room Temp: 273.15 - 298.15 $\pu{K}$
Pressure: 1.013 - 4.560 $\pu{MPa}$

Compiler:

C.L. Young

Methodology:

Rocking equilibrium cell fitted with Bourdon-type pressure gauges. Carbon dioxide gas admitted to cell containing water. After equilibrium established samples of liquid withdrawn and analyzed by stripping out carbon dioxide, absorbing in excess barium hydroxide and back-titrating.

Sample Information:
  1. Matheson research grade, purity 99.99 mole%.
  2. Degassed and distilled.
Measurement Errors:

Ambient temperature: δT/K = ±0.06
Mass concentration (m/v) (1): δx1/x1 = ±1%
Pressure: δP/kPa = ±2 below 3.6 MPa, ±3.4 above 3.6 Mpa

System Components:
  1. Carbon dioxide, $\ce{ CO2 }$; [124-38-9] NIST WebBook
  2. Water, $\ce{ H2O }$; [7732-18-5] NIST WebBook
