Volume 62. Carbon Dioxide in Water and Aqueous Electrolyte Solutions, p None

Source Publication

Vázquez, G.; Chenlo, F.; Pereira, G.; Afinidad 1994, 51, (No. 453) 369-74.

Conditions:

Room Temp: 298.1 $\pu{K}$
Pressure: 1.013 bar $\pu{bar}$
Mass density: γ2/g L-1 = 0 - 160 g/L

Compilers:

R. Crovetto, P. Scharlin

Methodology:

The apparatus is a combination of previous designs [1,2]. It was modified to achieve a more accurate determination of the volume of the absorbent liquid. The apparatus measures the volume of absorbed gas as the volume of mercury that must be supplied to the system in order to restore the initial pressure.
The raw solubility data obtained are gas/ liquid volume ratios. A detailed description of apparatus, method and procedure is given in [3].

Sample Information:
  1. Commercial, purity 99.5 mole%.
  2. No details given.
  3. Distilled and degassed.
Measurement Errors:

Ambient temperature: δT/K = ±0.1
Mass concentration (m/v) (1): δc1/c1 < ±1% [estimated by compiler (PS) on the basis of the information in Ref. 3]
Pressure: δP/bar = ±0.001

(a) γ2 = mass concentration NaCl

(b) c3 = concentration of NaCl; calculated by the compiler.

(c) ρ = density of aqueous NaCl solution

(d) c1 = solubility of CO2

(e) L = Ostwald coefficient [cm3 cm-3]; calculated by the compiler (PS) (ideal gas behavior assumed)
