Volume 62. Carbon Dioxide in Water and Aqueous Electrolyte Solutions, p None

Original Measurements

Findlay, A.; Creighton, H. J. M.; J. Chem. Soc. 1910, 97, 536-61.

Variables:

Room Temp: 298.15 $\pu{K}$
Pressure: 100.5 - 170.8 $\pu{kPa}$
Mass density: 102γ2/g cm-3 = 0.392 - 2.289 g/mL

Prepared by:

C.L. Young

Method/Apparatus/Procedure:

Gas burette and absorption pipette similar to that of Geffcken [1] except that the manometer tube was longer. Concentration of $\ce{As2S3}$ determined by precipitation with hydrochloric acid, drying at 80 °C and weighing.

Source and Purity of Materials:
  1. Purity 99.42 mole%.
  2. Prepared by passing hydrogen sulfide into arsenic trioxide solution. Hydrogen bubbled through colloidal solution, filtered and partially degassed.
  3. Nothing specified.
Estimated Errors:

Ambient temperature: δT/K = ±0.1
Mass concentration (m/v) (1): δS = ±0.25%
