Original Measurements

Högfeldt, E.; Fredlund, F.; Acta Chem. Scand. 1970, 24, 1858-1860.

Variables:

Room Temp: 298 $\pu{K}$

Prepared by:

A.L. Horvath

Method/Apparatus/Procedure:

Samples of tetrachloromethane were shaken to equilibrium with pure water. The liquid mixture was centrifuged and the organic phase analyzed for water following a modification of the Karl Fischer titration method.

Source and Purity of Materials:
  1. Distilled (compiler).
  2. Source not given, 99.95% pure, checked by VPC.
Estimated Errors:

Ambient temperature: ±0.5 K (compiler).
Mass concentration (m/v) (1): Not specified.

Components:
  1. Tetrachloromethane, $\ce{ CCl4 }$; [56-23-5] NIST WebBook
  2. Water, $\ce{ H2O }$; [7732-18-5] NIST WebBook
