Source Publication

Conditions:

Room Temp: 298 $\pu{K}$
Pressure

Compiler:

W.E. Acree, Jr.

Methodology:

Constant temperature bath, analytical balance and high pressure equipment.
Excess solute and solvent allowed to equilibrate in a specially designed high pressure cell at constant temperature for 20-24 hours. Known amount of saturated solution removed, solvent evaporated to dryness, and concentration determined from weight of solid residue.

Sample Information:
  1. Purest grade, Eastman Kodak Chemical Company, Rochester, New York, USA, was used as received.
  2. Pure grade, Phillips Petroleum, was dried over phosphorous pentoxide and distilled.
Measurement Errors:

Ambient temperature: T/K: ±precision 0.1. x1: ±1-3% at atmospheric pressure, and ±10% at the higher pressures.

System Components:
  1. Phenanthrene, $\ce{ C14H10 }$; [85-01-8] NIST WebBook
  2. Hexane, $\ce{ C6H14 }$; [110-54-3] NIST WebBook
