Volume 59. Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons: Binary Non-aqueous Systems, Part II Solutes F-Z, p None

Original Measurements

Sarker, M.; Wilson, D.; J. Tennessee Acad. Sci. 1986, 61, 69-74.

Variables:

Room Temp: Ambient Room Temperature

Prepared by:

W.E. Acree, Jr.

Method/Apparatus/Procedure:

Gas chromatographic equipped with flame ionization detection.
Binary mixtures were prepared by weight. Excess solute and solvent placed in closed glass bottles and allowed to equilibrate at ambient room temperature for several days. A 100 mL aliquot removed and naphthalene concentrated by hexane extraction. Concentrations determined by gas chromatography.

Source and Purity of Materials:
  1. Purity and chemical source not given in paper.
  2. Purity and chemical source not given.
  3. Purity and chemical source not given.
Estimated Errors:

Ambient temperature: T/K: Unknown. x1: ±0.001 (compiler). x1: ±8% (relative error; compiler).

Components:
  1. Naphthalene, $\ce{ C10H8 }$; [91-20-3] NIST WebBook
  2. Acetone, $\ce{ C3H6O }$; [67-64-1] NIST WebBook
  3. Water, $\ce{ H2O }$; [7732-18-5] NIST WebBook
Experimental Data

Actual experimental data not given in cited paper. Solubilities, c1/(mg L-1), expressed in terms of the equation: c1/(mg L-1) = 36.5 (1 + 6.7 × 103 x22.53). Mole fraction compositions of 2-propanone ranged between x2 = 0.01 to x2 = 0.10.
