Original Measurements

Yalkowsky, S. H.; Orr, R. J.; Valvani, S. C.; Ind. Eng. Chem. Fundam. 1979, 18(4), 351-3.

Variables:

Room Temp: 25 °C

Prepared by:

A. Vesala

Method/Apparatus/Procedure:

A small excess of solute in water was agitated for a period of 4-48 hours (the exact time for equilibration was not reported in single cases) and then filtered. The saturated solution was extracted, diluted with solvent, and assayed spectrophotometrically. At least two independent determinations were carried out.

Source and Purity of Materials:
  1. Commercial reagent (Aldrich or Eastman), used as received.
  2. Source and purity not specified.
Estimated Errors:

Ambient temperature: ±1 K. (authors).
Mass concentration (m/v) (1): ±10% (authors).

Components:
  1. 1,3-Diiodobenzene, $\ce{ C6H4I2 }$; [626-00-6] NIST WebBook
  2. Water, $\ce{ H2O }$; [7732-18-5] NIST WebBook
