Volume 58. Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons: Binary Non-aqueous Systems, Part I Solutes A-E, p 204

Source Publication

Burgess, J.; Haines, R. I.; Chem. Ind. (London) 1980, 289.

Conditions:

Room Temp: 298 $\pu{K}$
Initial ɸ2 (binary solvent): 0.0 - 0.3

Compiler:

W.E. Acree, Jr.

Methodology:

Constant temperature bath, and an ultraviolet/visible spectrophotometer. Excess solute and binary solvent equilibrated in a constant temperature vessel. Aliquots of saturated solution withdrawn and concentrations determined spectrometrically at 283 nm. Attainment of equilibrium verified by several repetitive measurements.

Sample Information:
  1. Purity and chemical source not specified, was recrystallized from aqueousethanol.
  2. Purity and chemical source not specified in paper.
  3. Purity and chemical source not specified in paper.
Measurement Errors:

Ambient temperature: T/K: ±0.1 (Compiler).
Mass concentration (m/v) (1): ø2(s): ±0.01. c1: ±3% (relative error; compiler).

System Components:
  1. 2,2-Bipyridine, $\ce{ C10H8N2 }$; [366-18-7] NIST WebBook
  2. Ethanol, $\ce{ C2H6O }$; [64-17-5] NIST WebBook
  3. Water, $\ce{ H2O }$; [7732-18-5] NIST WebBook
