Conditions:

Room Temp: 373.25 - 573.15 $\pu{K}$
Pressure: 1.01 - 5.06 $\pu{MPa}$

Compiler:

W. Hayduk

Methodology:

Ethene is bubbled through a presaturator and then through the equilibrium cell, both being filled with the molten solvent. The cell is thermostated in a nitrogen bath. After saturation, a (molten) liquid sample is withdrawn into an evacuated trap connected to a gas handling system. The solvent solidifies, and the volume of the gas released is measured in a burette over water at a known temperature and pressure. The mass of the solid solvent is determined. Further details are in [1].

Sample Information:
  1. Ethene was from Matheson Gas Products at a specified purity of 99.5%.
  2. Eicosane was from Sigma Chemicals at a specified purity of 99.0%.
Measurement Errors:

Ambient temperature: δT/K = ±0.1
Mass concentration (m/v) (1): δx/x = ±0.02 (compiler)
Pressure: δP/atm = ±0.05
