 <method>Water and benzene were equilibrated in a 4-L pyrex vessel fitted with a stirrer. Equilibration typically required about 100 h of stirring. Care was taken to avoid condensation of water on the vessel lid and selective absorption of water on the glass walls. Samples of analysis were withdrawn by air pressure. Water was determined by Karl Fischer titration.</method>
