<method>A small amount of (2) was equilibrated with 20 mL of (1) using a Teflon stirrer in a 100 mL flask in a Sargent constant temperature bath. At the end of two hours, the mixture was poured into a test tube immersed in the bath and the organic phase separated from water by gravitation. The determination of $\ce{THO}$ in the organic phase was done by isotopic dilution with a large excess of $\ce{H2O}$. The tritium activities in the tritiated water samples were determined by the acetylene method described in [1].</method>
