<method>A mixture of water and tetrachloromethane was placed in a glass stoppered flask and was shaken intermittently for at least three days in a water bath held at constant temperature. The organic phase was analyzed for water content by the Karl Fischer method and the aqueous phase was analyzed by using an interferometer.</method>
