<method>Equilibration flask: 50-mL glass-stoppered flask. The flask was heated in a hot-water bath until the hydrocarbon was melted, then shaken vigorously while cooling until excess hydrocarbon had recrystallized. The flask was then placed into a water bath thermostatically controlled at 25.00 ± 0.05 °C for at least 48 hr, and shaken occasionally during that time. Samples were withdrawn with a 10-mL transfer pipet, diluted appropriately and analyzed using a spectrophotometer in the ultra-violet region of the spectrum.</method>
