 <method>A mixture of water and bromobenzene was placed in a glass stoppered flask and shaken intermittently for at least three days in a constant temperature water bath. The water content of the organic phase was established by the Karl Fisher method and the organic content of the aqueous phase was established interferometrically.</method>
