The trans-1,2-dichloroethene was in excess of the anticipated solubility limit. The bottles were shaken for 1 hour with a wrist-action shaker and allowed to equilibrate for about 3 weeks. Samples were then injected into a gas chromatograph equipped with a Carbopac Column and a FIDdetector.
