<method>A mixture of 2-bromo-2-chloro-1,1,1-trifluoroethane and water was introduced into an equilibration flask which was then lowered into a waterbath thermostat. The assembly was shaken mechanically for three days at constant temperature. When equilibrium was reached, the two phases were separated and filtered. The aqueous and organic phases were analyzed using a gas chromatograph fitted with an electron capture detector. The determination was checked by a linked mass spectrometer.</method>
