 <method>Weighted mixtures of water and trichloromethane were shaken in sealed tubes in a water bath until the equilibrium had been established. After separation in two layers, a sample of the organic phase was taken and the water content of the mixture was determined by titration with a solution of cobalt chloride in anhydrous acetone.
